Our team’s take on safety

quotation marks
Safety is of the highest importance at Liesfeld. One saying that I have heard more than any other phrase out on the job is “the most important thing is making sure every one of you goes home tonight, safely to your families” and I am truly grateful for this mindset. This shows that not only do the leaders of this company deeply care, but every guy around you on a daily basis has a similar mindset engrained in their ethic while working next to you.
Chris Ashby
Technology Manager
Our safety culture is second to none. It is built into everything we do and closely supervised. We are constantly training for safety. Each job is audited by its foreman and also by a safety manager on a daily basis. We do not scream safety – we educate relentlessly for safety.
Kelby Morgan
Operations Manager
Dedication to going home everyday is a big part of everyone’s consideration into safety and we hold a huge value into making sure our crews can function safely and efficiently.
Dan Maloney
Project Manager
Liesfeld has done a fantastic job of meeting the safety demands of the client on site. It is very evident that Liesfeld cares about safety above all else. At the end of the day Liesfeld wants to ensure that everyone goes home to their families.
Brian Walker
Project Manager
Safety is a top priority, and is reflected in the attitudes, behaviors, and perceptions of everyone. It’s also a company where people feel emotionally safe and free from discrimination and racism. It’s important because a good safety culture helps an organization maintain operations by having everyone, from operators to managers, take safety seriously, remaining watchful and avoiding compromises, which means that operations are conducted in as safe a manner as possible. This can significantly reduce the risks of accidents occurring.

Our comprehensive safety program

Liesfeld has several full-time safety professionals with decades of combined experience and serves as a training center of excellence. Our team includes certified OSHA Outreach Instructors, First Aid Instructors, and HAZMAT Instructors, along with the capability to train employees in all skills related to our scope of work.

  • Consistent Safety Monitoring

Each Liesfeld project is supported by a designated Safety Manager, either dedicated to the job or managing it as part of a broader portfolio—with backup coverage in place to ensure continuity. All safety activity is tracked using HCSS software, enabling us to monitor performance, identify trends, implement corrective actions, and recognize top performers.

  • Safety Education Program Run by Certified Instructors

Every member of Liesfeld’s Safety Team is a qualified instructor. Within the group, managers hold certifications to teach OSHA 10- and 30-hour Construction, HAZMAT, First Aid/CPR/AED/Bloodborne Pathogens, excavation safety, confined space, and several other key safety disciplines.

  • Daily Huddles & Hazard Planning

Field crews participate in daily safety huddles led by superintendents to address current hazards and align on safe task execution. These meetings encourage communication, preparation, and situational awareness before work begins.

  • Weekly Toolbox Talks

Each week, the Safety Team selects a toolbox talk topic based on trends, seasonal health considerations, and observed knowledge gaps. Talks may be conducted by a Safety Manager or a foreman, depending on the topic and crew needs.

  • Industry-Leading Company Safety Manual and Site-Specific Safety Plans for All Major Projects

The Corporate Safety Manager oversees an annual review of the Liesfeld Safety Manual and manages the development of Site-Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs) for each project. They also lead the annual review of the company’s HAZCOM Program to ensure regulatory compliance and ongoing improvement.

  • Training & Post-Incident Review

Liesfeld provides structured onboarding, skill-based training, and site-specific refreshers for all employees. In the event of an incident, we conduct a full review to identify root causes, corrective actions, and process improvements.

Build your career with a local, family-owned company where safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s a shared responsibility.

At Liesfeld, our safety culture reflects who we are: a close-knit team that looks out for one another and takes pride in doing things the right way. We combine structure and training with a family-style commitment to every individual’s well-being.

  • Ongoing safety training helps you build your skills while staying protected on the job.
  • Every employee is encouraged to speak up and contribute to a safer work environment to include stop work authority from day 1.
