Diesel Mechanic

Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Diesel Mechanic role based in Rockville, VA, focused on maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of diesel trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment that supports Liesfeld Contractor’s site development and heavy civil operations. The Diesel Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and high-volume repairs with minimal supervision to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable, and operational. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and aftertreatment systems; performing wheel-end repairs, brake and air brake service, kingpin repairs, tire work, hydraulic cylinder and line repairs, electrical troubleshooting, DPF diagnostics, engine and transmission repairs, and light welding or fabrication as needed. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in heavy equipment or fleet maintenance, strong diagnostic skills, the ability to interpret scan tool data and identify root causes, and the confidence to independently complete complex repairs in a fast-paced shop environment. Additional qualifications include strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, a commitment to safety and quality workmanship, and the ability to work collaboratively with equipment, operations, and field teams to minimize downtime and keep projects moving.
