Overview
The Safety Officer plays a critical role in supporting safe, efficient construction operations by promoting a strong safety culture on active job sites. This position is responsible for identifying hazards, enforcing safety standards, conducting training, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Working closely with project teams and field personnel, the Safety Officer helps protect employees, equipment, and the public while proactively preventing incidents and reinforcing safe work practices.
Required Qualifications
Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of one year of construction experience, and progressively responsible work experience. Strong interpersonal, observation, and problem-solving skills are required, along with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and positively influence safe work behaviors. Candidates must be physically capable of working in active construction environments and willing to obtain advanced safety certifications within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred candidates will have a bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field, OSHA or other industry-recognized safety certifications, and working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local safety regulations. Instructor certifications and experience conducting and documenting safety or incident investigations are also considered a plus.
