Shop Foreman

Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Shop Foreman role based in Rockville, VA area, responsible for leading the daily operations of Liesfeld Contractor's equipment maintenance shop while ensuring the company's fleet of heavy construction equipment, diesel trucks, trailers, and support vehicles remains safe, reliable, and ready to support field operations. As a working leader, the Shop Foreman oversees shop workflow, prioritizes repairs and preventative maintenance, performs advanced diagnostics and complex mechanical repairs, and ensures all work meets company safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include coordinating and mentoring shop mechanics; troubleshooting diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic, electrical, air brake, and aftertreatment systems; conducting quality inspections; monitoring work orders and maintenance schedules; and collaborating with Operations, Project Managers, Dispatch, and the Equipment Manager to maximize fleet availability and minimize downtime. The Shop Foreman also plays a critical role in recruiting, developing, and retaining skilled mechanics while fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and teamwork. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Lead Mechanic, Shop Foreman, or in a similar leadership role, along with extensive hands-on diesel mechanic experience. They possess strong diagnostic abilities, exceptional organizational and communication skills, experience managing heavy equipment maintenance operations, and the ability to perform and oversee complex repairs with minimal supervision in a fast-paced shop environment.
