As part of the high-profile redevelopment of the historic Carpenter Theatre in downtown Richmond, Liesfeld Contractor was selected to perform a complex civil sitework package supporting utility, road, and sidewalk reconstruction in the surrounding urban core.
Working in coordination with the City of Richmond and multiple project stakeholders, Liesfeld reworked utilities and public infrastructure on several key downtown corridors—including Broad Street, East Grace Street, East Marshall Street, 5th Street, and 6th Street. This work supported the transformation of the Carpenter Theatre into the anchor facility of the newly established Richmond CenterStage performing arts complex.
The scope included selective demolition, replacement and relocation of underground utilities, new stormwater systems, streetscape grading, concrete sidewalks, and paving. All work was completed within tight working zones in an active downtown environment, requiring traffic management, pedestrian access coordination, and precise scheduling around concurrent vertical construction.
Liesfeld’s performance helped deliver a revitalized cultural destination while improving long-term access and infrastructure in one of Richmond’s most historically significant districts.
