Heading West

There has been a lot of buzz in Richmond over the last several months about the renewed development push in the Short Pump area of Henrico, Virginia. The Liesfeld family and company have lived in the area for generations. Once as farmers and saw mill operators in the early twentieth century, and later as a site construction company started in the 1970’s.

Mr. Joeseph Liesfeld, Jr. was the first contractor to work at the Innsbrook development clearing that first road into the project which led to building much of Innsbrook into the 1990’s.  Mr. Liesfeld also went on to perform site work services on several shopping centers along West Broad Street starting with Tuckernuck Square Shopping Center and moving west. Then in the late 1990’s into the early 2000’s, Liesfeld played a critical role in the site development of Short Pump with a long list of projects through out the few mile stretch of West Broad Street.

Now in 2015, we see a new push west to the Goochland county line and Liesfeld is proud to be part of it.

West Broad Marketplace

The West Broad Marketplace is a high profile eighty-acre commercial development featuring the arrival of two retail giants into the Richmond market being Cabelas and Wegmans.The project sits between the highly visible West Broad Street and Interstate 64 near the Henrico and Goochland county lines.

Broad Hill Centre

Broad Hill Centre is another high profile fifty-acre mixed use development featuring Bon Secours, multi-family housing and an Aldi grocery store. The project sits to the west of West Broad Marketplace and is conveniently merged for the future use of the general public in the coming months.

Marshall Springs at Gayton

Marshall Springs is a multi-family development sitting at the corner of North Gayton Road and Bacova Drive. A large part of the development is already open with the Northern section nearing completion.

Liesfeld Farms

Liesfeld Farms is a single family development sitting between Bacova Drive and Liesfeld Farm Drive. The site development portion was completed last year and houses are currently being built.

Liesfeld Farm Drive

The new access road connecting North Gayton Road and Pouncy Tract connects several developments including Liesfeld Farms, Marshall Springs, Smith Grove and more. The construction is broken into three sections. The first section at Pouncy Tract was completed earlier this year, the second section at North Gayton was completed several weeks ago and the connecting section is currently under construction with anticipated opening in 2016.

Short Pump Medical Center

Short Pump Medical Center is a five-story medical facility off West Broad Street in the Towne Center West development next to Short Pump Town Center mall. The project will be home to the VCU Health Systems and is nearing completion with anticipated opening in 2016.
