About this project
Since the 1980s, Liesfeld has performed most of the major site work at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. From 2007 to 2010, Liesfeld was heavily involved with the McGlothin Wing expansion construction, which featured a 160,000 SF exhibit hall, 4 story parking deck (which had a green roof) and a sculpture garden. The project involved two large basement excavations, complex landscape grading and unique construction sequences on a 14 acre campus that had a lot of construction in progress. The finished product won several architectural and construction awards in 2010.
