About this project
The Confidential Client – Data Center is a 250,000 SF tier four data center located in Sandston, Virginia. The project was completed for one of the nations largest financial institutions. The project sits on 100 acres of land in White Oak Technology Park and featured two lane county road, two mile sanitary sewer easement, Underground Water Storage Facility, Cooling Tower, Fuel Storage Yard, Dominion Power Substation and Generator Building. In July 2011, Liesfeld began clearing, by early August the building pad was turned over to Balfour Beatty Construction (General Contractor). This feat alone was said to be “impossible” by most everyone. The project was totally completed in July 2012.
This project highlighted Liesfeld’s Clients Services from pre-construction, project management, design build and mission critical capabilities. Liesfeld also brought innovative approaches to the table to meet LEED and Quality Control goals.
Complex Building Excavation:
The project was under an intense schedule. In order to speed up construction, Liesfeld built a “T” Shaped depressed excavation that was four feet deeper than the building pad elevation. Not one stake was used during this stage of construction due to Liesfeld GPS Capabilities that sped up construction.
